Recently, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment officially issued the "Opinions on Strengthening the Environmental Impact Assessment of Construction Projects Involving New Pollutants in Key Industries" (hereinafter referred to as the "Opinions"). The introduction of this new regulation marks an important step for my country in the field of new pollutant control, which will have a far-reaching impact on six major industries such as coatings and petrochemicals.
Industry impact and response: Six major industries face new challenges
The six industries that are focused on are petrochemicals, coatings, textile printing and dyeing, rubber, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals, which are consistent with the industries focused on in the "Action Plan for New Pollutant Control". These industries occupy an important position in the national economy, but they are also the main source of new pollutants. Therefore, the introduction of new regulations is undoubtedly a severe challenge for these industries.
Petrochemical industry
As one of the key industries for the generation and emission of new pollutants, the petrochemical industry faces huge challenges. Petrochemical enterprises need to strengthen the control and prevention of pollutants such as waste gas, wastewater, and waste residues generated during the production process to ensure that the emission behavior meets environmental protection requirements. At the same time, enterprises also need to strengthen the research and development and management of new pollutants, promote technological innovation and industrial upgrading, so as to reduce the generation and emission of new pollutants.
Paint industry
Some raw materials and additives used in the production process of the paint industry may contain new pollutants, so enterprises need to strengthen the screening and management of raw materials, optimize the production process, and reduce the generation and emission of new pollutants. At the same time, enterprises also need to strengthen the monitoring and detection of new pollutants to ensure that the environmental performance of products meets relevant requirements.
Textile printing and dyeing industry
The textile printing and dyeing industry may produce wastewater containing new pollutants during dyeing and printing. Therefore, enterprises need to strengthen the treatment and management of wastewater to ensure that wastewater is discharged in compliance with standards. At the same time, enterprises also need to strengthen the research and development and application of new pollutants to promote the development of green printing and dyeing technology.
Rubber industry
The rubber industry may produce waste gas, wastewater and waste residue containing new pollutants during the production process. Therefore, enterprises need to strengthen the management and prevention of these pollutants to ensure that the emission behavior meets environmental protection requirements. At the same time, enterprises also need to strengthen the research and development and management of new pollutants to promote the green development of the rubber industry.
Pesticide industry
The pesticide industry may produce wastewater and waste residue containing new pollutants during the production process. These pollutants have potential hazards to the soil and water environment. Therefore, enterprises need to strengthen the treatment and management of wastewater and waste residue to ensure that they meet the discharge standards. At the same time, enterprises also need to strengthen the research and development and application of new pesticides to promote the green transformation of the pesticide industry.
Pharmaceutical industry
The pharmaceutical industry may produce wastewater and waste gas containing new pollutants during the production process. These pollutants have potential hazards to the environment and human health. Therefore, enterprises need to strengthen the treatment and management of wastewater and waste gas to ensure that they meet the discharge standards. At the same time, enterprises also need to strengthen the research and development and application of new drugs to promote the green development of the pharmaceutical industry.
In order to meet the challenges of the new regulations, enterprises in related industries need to take a series of measures. First, enterprises need to strengthen the research and development and application of new pollutant control technologies to improve control efficiency and effectiveness. Secondly, enterprises need to strengthen internal management, establish a sound environmental protection management system and system, and ensure the effective implementation of environmental protection work. In addition, enterprises also need to strengthen communication and cooperation with government, industry associations and other institutions to jointly promote the development of new pollutant control work.
